Tobacco Leaf 15.5” Platter

Tobacco Leaf 15.5” Platter

This extravagant design was originally made in China, likely for export to the Portuguese and Brazilian markets. Of all the 18th-century dinnerware patterns, Tobacco Leaf was among the most highly prized. George and Martha Washington owned pieces of this pattern, and examples are part of the Mount Vernon collection.

A small phoenix bird perches on the vibrant leaves of the flowering Nicotiana (Tobacco) plant. Richly decorated with twenty-seven colors and accents of 22k gold, the design is based on an original now displayed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Details:

  • Diameter: 15" x 12 ½"
  • Material: Fine Porcelain
  • Care: Hand wash recommended. Not microwave safe due to gold detailing

Available by Special Order only. Please allow 2-4 weeks for delivery.
